Citation verification helps you identify cited statements that need closer review. It checks how each cited statement uses its source and highlights statements when Zeno detects a potential citation issue.
What is citation verification?
After Zeno provides an answer with citations, it checks each cited statement against its source in the background. The check considers whether the source supports the statement and whether the source is represented accurately.
Citation verification checks cited statements individually. It does not verify the complete answer or the legal advice in it.
Where will I see it?
When a cited statement needs attention, Zeno highlights the statement and marks its citation. A summary such as 1 claim needs review appears at the bottom of Zeno's answer.
Select the summary or a highlighted citation to open the source. A Citation verification card appears above the source viewer and shows the status, the statement that was checked, Zeno's reasoning, and the relevant evidence source.
What do the citation verification statuses mean?
Partially supported. The source supports only part of the highlighted statement. Check which part is supported before relying on the statement.
Citation issue found. The source appears to be misrepresented or cited as the wrong authority for the highlighted statement. Review the statement and source carefully before relying on them.
You may also see these statuses when you open a citation:
No citation issue found. Zeno did not detect a material problem with how the source is cited. This does not verify the complete answer or its legal advice.
Verification unavailable. No verification result is available for the statement. Review the statement and source yourself.
Checking. Zeno is still checking the statement against the source.
How do I review a highlighted statement?
Select the claim-review summary or the highlighted citation in the answer.
Read the status, statement, and reasoning in the Citation verification card.
Compare the statement with the highlighted passage and its surrounding context in the source viewer.
If the card contains more than one statement, use Previous cited claim or Next cited claim to move between them.
If the statement cites more than one source, use the Evidence selector to review each source.
Important points to note
Partially supported or Citation issue found means that a cited statement needs your attention. It does not automatically mean that the statement is wrong.
No citation issue found means that Zeno did not detect a material citation problem. It does not certify the statement, the answer, or the legal advice as correct.
A statement without a citation is not included in citation verification.
Always apply your professional judgement to the answer and its sources before relying on or reusing a statement.
