Written by Eloy Wijlhuizen

Use the Zeno Word Add-In to ask questions about the document open in Word or request changes that you can review before applying.

If you have not installed the Add-In, follow How to Install the Zeno Word Add-In.

Open Zeno in Word

  1. Open a Word document.

  2. Select Zeno in the Home ribbon.

  3. Select Sign In if prompted.

  4. Select New Chat to start a conversation.

The Zeno sidebar opens next to your document.

Ask a Question or Request a Change

Use the same composer to ask a question or request a change. Zeno uses your instruction to determine whether to answer in the sidebar or suggest changes to the document.

  1. Select the text you want Zeno to focus on, or leave the document unselected to use the full supported document content.

  2. Enter your question or describe the change you want.

  3. Select the upward-arrow button.

  4. Review Zeno's response.

Check Word Add-In Limitations for supported document content, content outside the current scope, large-document guidance, and automatic page-number slowdowns. For suggested edits, follow Review and Apply Suggested Changes.

Add Files or Choose Sources

To include another file with your request:

  1. Select Add to prompt.

  2. Select Attach a file.

  3. Choose a file from your Library, or select Upload to add one.

  4. Select Add files.

The document open in Word remains available as context for the request.

For Legal Research, select Sources to choose the relevant jurisdictions. The available sources depend on your Project access.

Continue the Conversation

If you reload the Add-In pane, Zeno returns you to the active Word conversation. You do not need to start a new conversation after reloading.

To reopen an earlier Word conversation, follow Accessing Chat History in the Word Add-In.

If you send another instruction while Zeno is responding, the Add-In places it under Next up. Leave it there to run after the current response. To redirect the response in progress, select Redirect now. Zeno uses the instruction at the next safe point in the response.
