How to Translate a Complete Document or Text in Zeno

Written by Eloy Wijlhuizen

Ask Zeno to translate short text in a task. To translate a complete document, open it in Files and use Translate if your account and document support it. Check the wording and formatting before using the result.

Translate a Piece of Text

  1. Start or open a task in the intended Project.

  2. Add the text you want to translate.

  3. Specify the target language and the wording you want to preserve, such as names or defined terms.

  4. Send the request.

  5. Compare the result with the source text and request any corrections you need.

For example: “Translate this text into English. Keep the names and reference numbers unchanged.”

Translate a Complete Document

  1. Open Files in the Project that contains the document.

  2. Open the document after it has finished processing.

  3. Select Translate.

  4. Choose the target language from the available languages.

  5. In Start Translation, check From and To. Leave From set to Detect automatically, or choose the source language when needed.

  6. Select Translate to start.

You may see the original while Zeno translates the document. Wait until the target language changes from Processing to Ready, then select that language from Translate.

Choose Original from the same menu to compare the translation with the source. Check names and numbers as well as wording, tables, and formatting.

Download the Translated Document

  1. Select the completed target language from Translate.

  2. Check that the viewer shows the translated version.

  3. Select Download.

  4. Choose one of the formats offered for that document.

  5. Open the downloaded file and check its language and contents.

To download the original-language version, select Original before downloading.

If Translation Is Unavailable or Fails

If you cannot find Translate, check that Zeno has finished processing the document. Your file type, account, and Project permissions affect access to translation. Contact Support if you expect to have access.

If you cannot find the target language, ask Support whether you can use it for document translation.

If Zeno reports a translation failure, check the target language's status before trying again. If the problem continues, contact Support with the file type, source and target languages, and error message. Leave document contents out of the initial report.

For questions about a document in another language, see Can Zeno analyze documents in other languages?.
