Use this guide to start a chat, give Zeno the right source material, describe the result you need, and review the result before using it. Continue in the same chat when you want Zeno to refine the result.
Create or Choose Your Project
If you do not have a Project yet, create one first. Otherwise, open the Project that should contain the task. Then select New chat.
Check that you are in the correct Project before adding documents or sending your request. For creating, choosing, and switching Projects, see How to Use Projects in Zeno Work.
Supply the Sources
Choose how to add a source based on where the document is:
For a document that is already in the Project, type
@in the message composer and select the document. Check that the document appears in your prompt. For a file on your device, select Add to prompt, choose Attach a file, and select the file. If the file is still processing, wait until it is ready before sending your request.
For new material, follow Upload Files and Folders. For an existing Project document, see How to Mention Project Files in a Chat.
Include any other context that Zeno needs for the task. Do not rely on a new chat having the instructions or selected documents from an earlier chat.
Describe the Outcome
Write what you want Zeno to produce, which sources it should use, and any limits on the result. For example:
“Use the attached meeting notes to list the action items, owners, and due dates. Use a table. Leave a field blank when the notes do not specify it.”
To enter your instruction by voice, use Dictate in the message composer. Dictation is an input option for your task, not a separate live voice conversation.
Review your instruction and selected sources, then select Send message.
Follow the Work
Watch the progress in the chat. If Zeno asks for more information, read the question and provide the missing detail.
See How to Follow Zeno’s Progress and Plans for progress updates and ways to steer the task.
Review and Refine the Result
Read the result before using it. Check names, dates, missing information, and whether the answer follows your request. For a cited statement, inspect the source and its surrounding context; see How Citations Work in Zeno.
Send a follow-up in the same chat to request a specific change. For example: “Keep the table, but group the action items by owner.” Add any source material needed for the revision, then review the revised result.
Review or Download a Document
If Zeno produces a document, open and review it. Download it when you need a local copy. Follow How to Edit a Document in Zeno Work for the document review and download steps. Check the downloaded document before sharing it.
If the Task Needs Correction
To queue a correction, redirect the work, or stop it, follow Queue, Redirect, or Stop a Task. Stopping the current work does not clear queued prompts.
If a file fails to process, check its Project and follow the upload guide. If a result is missing or a download fails, check what is already present before repeating the action. Keep a copy of your intended instruction.
If you remain stuck, contact Support with the step that failed and the error you saw.
