Find Files and View Earlier Versions

Written by Eloy Wijlhuizen

Use Files to find a document in its Project, open its contents, or download an earlier version.

Find and Open a File

  1. Open Files in the Project where you uploaded the item.

Files list with search and the synthetic mock-mutual-nda.docx file.
  2. Use Search files in this project… to find an item by name.

  3. Select the file to inspect File details.

File details panel with summary, document information, and Open and Download controls.
  4. Select Open in the details panel to view its contents.

Open a folder to browse its contents. Use the path above the list to return to a parent folder. Check the file's processing status if you cannot open it or use it in a task; wait for Ready before using it.

View Earlier Versions

  1. Open the file from Files.

  2. Select the version control next to the file name, for example Version 1.

More file options menu containing Version history.
  3. In History, find the version marked Current.

Version history showing Version 1 marked Current and its download control.
  4. Use the download control beside the version you need.

Check the version label before downloading it, then open the downloaded file to review that version. File history and document version history refer to the same history; you do not need a separate document-history view.

If You Cannot Find or Open a File

Check the original Project and folder, then clear the search. If Zeno reports that it could not load the list, select Try again. Ask the person who manages Project access to check your permissions if you still cannot find the item.

Check the file's original location and upload result before uploading another copy. For an interrupted or failed upload, follow Upload Files and Folders.

Use the File

To select the document for a task, follow How to Mention Project Files in a Chat. To rename, move, or delete it, see Organise and Manage Files.

For the document's summary and suggested details, see Use Document Intelligence. To translate it, follow How to Translate a Complete Document or Text in Zeno.
